Luke 6:27-28; And What it means to all People? By Anthony Hopkins April 11, 2022.

Luke 6:27-28 Is very hard to do for some people.  Society itself has changed during the past 40 years.  I remember when I was a little boy, my grandparents did not want me fighting anyone.  My grandparents wanted me to heed the words that are inside of the Bible.  My mother did not like it when I used to let other boys beat me up all of the time.

Jesus is teaching in Luke 6:27-28 says: But to you who are listening I say Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, and bless those who mistreat you.  In Luke’s account of the Scriptures is different than in Matthew, Mark, and John.  I want to be honest that this is going to take practice because people are not heeding God’s Word.  These particular Bible Verses reminds me of the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7.  Matthews account is much easier to grasp than in Luke.  I want to say that things have changed dramatically during the past 40 years.

I am willing to allow someone to smack me on my face.  I want to inform all of you that people are no longer using their hands to fight with.  They have resorted to using guns and knives to defend themselves right now.

Luke 6:27-40

King James Version

27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be.

I want to inform all of you that this is going to take a lot of practice and this means that I will have to modify my behavior just to appease another person.  I would rather stay away from people who are violent.  It makes me angry to see other people oppressed like it is in Ukraine.  Russia is killing their own people.  Those people are not bothering Russia.  However, they are fighting back with the same weapons that Russia is using.  Russia is retreating because they have been defeated by their fellow Ukrainians.  In the United States, violence happens every 3 seconds.  I know in the United States, we fought people from the Middle East for over 20 years.  Whereas, people have been killing each other over senseless things.
