Is it True That the Borrower is Servant to the Lender?
By: Anthony Joseph Hopkins/ November 8, 2024
Praise The Lord Saints!! Praise The Lord!! How are all of you doing today? Fine, I hope. I have a very important question to ask all of you. Is it true that the borrower is servant to the lender? This is a very serious question that I would like to ask all of you personally because I have a student loan, and I am having a very difficult time paying it off. The interest of my student loan is 8%. I know that I did not have any business taking out another loan; just to attend college at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I enrolled in college during the fall of 2003.
I borrowed the money in order to enroll at UNCC. I was not eligible for any more grants that were available at the time. Frankly, I was trying to acquire a second Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Social Work. I understand that anytime that a person borrows money in any state, fashion or form, it is like being a slave all over again. I really understand that I have to pay this money back in full. However, I am very disappointed because the interest on my Jamison Loan is $80.00 dollars per month.
Next, I want to inform all of you that it is true that the borrower is servant to the lender. It might be a metaphor at the moment, but in reality, we have to pay off all of our debts. It does not matter what they really are, we have to pay our debts. I really understand that student loan debt is climbing each year. I wish that I could have given the money back!! I know that I only receive Social Security Disability right now. I only earn $959.00 dollars per month right now. I have over $850.00 dollars in bills each month. I know that I have to pay my rent at the moment as well as life insurance, and other bills.
Moreover, I have been going through financial hardships for the past 25 years now. I will admit that the William and Fudge Collection Agency wants me to pay this loan off in full. I have called this agency at their Rock Hill, South Carolina Office and they want me to pay at least $275.00 per month. I have explained to them that I can only pay $50.00 per month. I do not understand why these collection agencies are not willing to come to a complete compromise with me regarding my student loan. I am only paying the interest instead of the principle amount. This is a shame!!
I guess I better go back to work just to pay this student loan.
In Addition, there are people that I have allowed to borrow money from me, but they do not pay me back. These people are called welshers right now. To completely welsh, means to refuse to pay off your debts. I have depleted my allotment when it comes to borrowing money from my life insurance right now. I have asked William and Fudge Collection Agency can I pay the amount that I have agreed in the very beginning!! I have to do what is absolutely necessary in order to pay off all of my debts.
Finally, I want to inform everyone that have debts to pay to make payment arrangements with all of your creditors in person. When it comes to handling things over the telephone is pointless right now. I have to get on my knees and pray to Jesus Christ to help me to pay off all of my debts. Do you know that birds of a feather flock together? This is a wise saying that people who are of certain status tend to affiliate with one another. When it comes to socioeconomic status in the United States as well as other countries, the poor will always go through hell in life. I also will admit that a person cannot establish a relationship with the opposite sex; if you are having hardships in any state, fashion, and form.
This is serious because my ex-wife used me for my money at a period of time during our relationship. She was buying street drugs with my money instead of paying bills for our residence. There are some women and men who will completely drain you of all of your resources. They do not care. Some of the people that I was affiliated with were very apathetic. This is the reason why I would like for everyone to please keep me in your prayers because I am physically, emotionally, mentally, and financially suffering right now. I am telling all of you the truth about my situation.

Different family types are not only common but also much more accepted than they were in the past. To define family types, we categorize families based on their structure and dynamics, such as single-parent households, nuclear families, and extended families. It’s not uncommon to be raised by a single mother or be part of a mixed family. Each family type (there are six main ones that people agree on) has a unique family dynamic.
Learning about your family type and thinking about how it affects your family dynamic can help bring you clarity about your family challenges or give you insight into the process of going through a big shift in your family structure. Looking at family type and dynamics can also give you a better idea of the strengths and weaknesses that your family is likely working with.
Six different family types and their unique family dynamics
Though the exact definition of a family depends largely on individual interpretations and cultural norms, there are some sources that define at least six unique family types that follow their own set of dynamics and structures.
1. Nuclear family
Nuclear families, also known as elementary or traditional families, consist of two parents (usually married or common law) and their children. Nuclear families typically have one or more children; they may be biological or adopted, but the main idea is that the parents are raising their kids together in the family home.
Though nuclear families seem to be on the decline, a 2016 U.S. Census study shows that 69% of children still live in nuclear families. This is the most commonly depicted and explored family type.
Nuclear families can be strong and successful, with both parents being great examples for their kids. These kids often have many advantages over other families with less, which can help them get ahead in life. However, like any family, nuclear families have their struggles to face. For example, if parents shut out grandparents and other extended family, chances are their support system will not be strong and getting through hard times can be challenging.

Strengths of nuclear families
Financially stable, both parents usually work now
Children raised in a stable parenting situation
Consistency
Emphasis on health and education
Focus on communication
Weaknesses of nuclear families
Exclusion of extended family can lead to isolation and stress
Can struggle with conflict resolution
Nuclear families can become too child-focused, resulting in self-centered children and families neglecting other important things
2. Single parent
Single-parent families consist of one parent with one or more kids. In these cases, the parent either never married, widowed, or divorced. A paper by Ellwood, D.T., and Jencks, C. (2004) talks about how single-parent families have been on the rise since the 1960s when divorce rates started going up (and so did births happening out of wedlock). They suggest that these changes could be due to many different factors, from leaving behind outdated gender roles to feeling comfortable being independent and achieving the goal of raising a child, regardless of the presence of a spouse or not.
Someone who is single parenting and raising kids alone is not that uncommon anymore, and like any other family type, single-parent homes have their pros and cons. Being a single parent raising kids can be hard. It can also be hard being a kid when your parents are split up or if you grew up only knowing one parent. In this situation, families need to make the best of what they have and rely on each other for love and support.
Strengths of single-parent families
Family can become very close
Learn to household duties
Children and parents can become very resilient
Weaknesses of single-parent families
Families may have difficulty getting by on one income
It can be difficult for single parents to work full-time and still afford quality childcare

3. Extended family
While most people in the U.S. would identify nuclear families as being the “traditional” family type, in different cultures, extended families are much more common and have been around for hundreds of years. Extended families are families with two or more adults who are related through blood or marriage, usually along with children. This often includes aunts, uncles, cousins, or other relatives living under the same roof.
Typically, extended families live together for social support and to achieve common goals. For example, parents may live with their children and their children’s grandparents. This gives the family the ability to provide care for their elderly, and in turn, the grandparents may be able to help with childcare while the parents are at work.
In North America, extended families living together isn’t that common, but it does happen occasionally. What’s nice about extended families is how close they can be and how they give each other a lot of support. That doesn’t mean that so much family living together is always easy, though. There can be differences in opinion in extended families, and some people might live this way because they are obligated, not because they want to.
Strengths of extended families
Things like respect and care for the elderly are important
More family around to help with chores, child care, in case of emergencies, etc.
Social support
Weaknesses of extended families
Financial issues can occur if parents are supporting several other adults and children without any extra income
Lack of secludedness depending on the living environment
4. Childless family
Childless families are families with two partners who cannot have or don’t want kids. In the world of family types and dynamics, these families are often forgotten or left out (even though you can still have a family without children). In the past, growing up, getting married, and having children was the norm, but in today’s world, more people are choosing to postpone having children or deciding not to have any.
These unique families include working couples who may have pets or enjoy taking on other people’s kids (like nieces and nephews) for the day occasionally rather than having their own. They could also be adventurous couples who don’t feel like kids would be a good fit for their lifestyle. These relationships can be between wife and husband, husband and husband, wife and wife, or partner and partner.
The decision of whether to have kids is a difficult and highly personal one. Having kids isn’t for everyone, and some families do great without them. Still, it’s important to remember that some childless families are not childless because they want to be. Be kind before you assume about someone’s family unit, as a number of people may be in a childless family due to infertility, or have sensitivity regarding the topic of children in general.Getty

Strengths of childless families
Typically have more disposable income
No dependents to take care of
Have more freedom to travel, go on adventures, pursue different careers or education
Couples get to spend more time together
Weaknesses of childless families
Couples can feel isolated or left out when all their friends/family start having kids
If you like kids, you can feel like something is missing
Infertility can force a family to be childless, which can be hard for couples
5. Stepfamily
A stepfamily is when two separate families merge into one. This can go several different ways, like two divorced parents with one or more children blending families, or one divorced parent with kids marrying someone who has never been married and has no kids.
Like single-parent families, step-families have become more common over the years. Like all these different family types, stepfamilies also have a unique set of strengths and weaknesses that they need to deal with.
Going from a nuclear or single-parent family to a stepfamily can be a tough transition. It can be hard letting new people into your family dynamic, especially welcoming in a whole other family. Over time though, some children will come to accept their stepparents and step-siblings as part of the family and form strong bonds. This often also requires co-parenting of adoptive kids and can increase the number of people each partner has to look after or care for in the family unit.
Co-parenting is somewhat different from parallel parenting. Even if both procedures allow both parents to be in charge of custody and parental obligations, co-parenting entails cooperation, plenty of communication, and a collaborative approach to parenting, compared to parallel parenting wherein there’s limited direct contact with each other. Step-grand-parents might also be involved in this dynamic, as there are many variations and a wide spread of how far a stepfamily can go.
Strengths of stepfamilies
Children get the benefit of having two parents around
Children and their new siblings or step-parents can form strong bonds
The benefit of having two incomes compared to single-parent families
Weaknesses of stepfamilies
Adjustment can be difficult for parents and children
Parents can run into problems trying to discipline each other’s kids
May lack discipline or be inconsistent
6. Grandparent family
The final family type is the grandparent family. A grandparent family is when one or more grandparent is raising their grandchild or grandchildren. While uncommon, according to the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, grandparent-headed families are on the rise. They that, “Census study indicate that in the United States approximately 2.4 million grandparents are raising 4.5 million children.”
This situation happens when the parents aren’t around to take care of their kids or are incapable of properly taking care of their kids. For example, the parents might be incarcerated, too young to provide, may have a substance use disorder, or possibly due to the parent’s death. Thankfully, in these situations, the grandparents step up and act as parents to their grandchildren. This family unit can happen regardless of being wealthy, poor, or middle-class.
If you are struggling with substance use, contact the SAMHSA National Helpline at (800) 662-4357 to receive support and resources. Support is available 24/7.
It can be hard for grandparents to raise their grandchildren. In most cases, they probably thought they were done raising kids and might not have the health and energy to do so. Still, when needed, many grandparents step up and do what’s needed.
Strengths of grandparent families
Grandparents and grandchildren form a close bond
Keeps children from ending up in foster homes or other situations
Weaknesses of grandparent families
Grandparents may not work or have full-time jobs, may struggle with income
Depending on their health, it may be difficult for them to keep up with young children or discipline them as they get older

What Does 1st Samuel 16:7 Really Mean in Contemporary Times? By Anthony Joseph Hopkins August 31, 2022
What does 1st Samuel 16:7 really mean in a contemporary society? I want to say that God knows exactly who we all are because He created us. I guess this Bible tells me that God is the only one who can judge mankind. I say that because He made everything in His own image. I know that When Samuel for looking for the next King of Israel, He was looking for someone who was compatible to God. He was looking for someone who was God Fearing, and who was after God’s own heart.
Next, God was looking at everyone to determine whether or not they would be suitable as King of Israel. Honestly, God still does it because He wants to make sure that we are feasible for His Kingdom. I know when I am writing this blog, I am being scrutinized by God Himself because He wants to make sure that I am worthy to become a member of His Kingdom.
Further, I want to inform all of you that only man can look at the outside of the body of a person, and perhaps judge him according to his or her behavior. The heart is very important because it tells God everything about you. It even allows God to figure out if you are worthy to become a person who can marry a woman or man just to see if they are capable of treating the next person right.
Also, when we are children, our parents can determine whether we are going to be a success or a failure. To be honest with all of you, my parents knew whether or not I would be successful in life based on a test. This test enables a child or an adult to go through a fixed course of action.
Subsequently, God will observe all of our works and see if we are in the Lambs Book of Life. We are going to be judged according to how well we related with other people. God is also going to look at to see what we have done for His Kingdom. You know something, the things that we say out of our mouths can determine if we are worthy to join Jesus Christ someday.
Moreover, I want all of you to know that; the money that we give to God determines if we are good stewards or not. If we are robbing God with our tithes and offerings, then God will not accept us into his Kingdom. We have to do things that are pleasing to God on a daily basis.
Finally, a man or a woman can defile themselves according to their actions. For example, if a man or a woman is having sex before marriage, this is called sexual immorality. I have learned over the years to stay inside of separate houses until I get married to my wife. There are times that Pastoral Counseling is necessary because there are differences in opinion or our actions towards others can make or break any engagement.
In Summary, God knows exactly what we are going to do in advance. He even knows how long we are going to live on earth. I am doing my very best to stop sinning on a daily basis. I know that I am going to make mistakes in life. I will have to be quick to ask God for forgiveness. I have to forgive other people and forgive myself. I will admit that I have to learn how to forgive myself for all of the things that I had done; while inside of my body.
In Conclusion, God knows all about me. God knew all of us while we were inside of our mother’s womb. Jeremiah 1:5 says before you were born I knew you. Before you were born I sanctified you and ordained you as a Prophet to the Nations.
My Name is Anthony Hopkins and I am from Dayton, Ohio. I have been writing since April 1, 1991. I have been writing essays and blogs for a number of years. Please keep me in your prayers because I am scheduled to have eye surgery on September 6, 2022 at 3:00PM. I have typed over 1,100 essays and Blogs on WordPress, Facebook, Penzu, and Blogger. Thank you very much for reading my blog.
Proverbs 23:26 says: My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways. This means that God is willing to accept your heart that is if you are willing to accept His Commandments and allow your eyes to observe all of God’s Ways. I Anthony Joseph Hopkins is willing to accept God’s Will and Favor inside of my heart right now. I accept Your Precepts in my life. I am ready to serve You and listen to Your Son Jesus Christ and I will be there for everyone else who has a real need for me.
Next, I am willing to walk in Your Ways and Paths in my personal life right now. I am willing to read Your Word out loud so that the whole world will know that You are in charge of my life. I will never be ashamed to express Your Words to everyone. Lord Jesus, please help me to let everyone know that You are My God and Friend. You are my Savior. You are everything to me.
Further, I have to make amends with my family members and friends because I no longer drink alcohol and smoke marijuana anymore. I have been feeling sluggish because I am taking 38 pills per day. I feel drained because I am sleeping excessively and drinking coffee each day. God is giving all of us a second chance in life. I remember when I used to make mistakes in my overall behavior. I have to find out if everything is true about me being a father myself. I’m checking out all of my sources right now.
Moreover, I have given God my heart to Him years ago. Whenever I think of this Bible verse, I am compelled and convinced that God is listening to me from heaven. At least, I feel much better because I know that God is watching over me and everyone else. I am willing to spend more time with God because I know that He is right near me and the Holy Spirit is inside of me. I have been feeling better since I have taken a long nap. There was a time when I used to be a backslider because I was reading things about me that I thought was true when it really was not true. During the 1970s, everyone was reading their horoscope and reading other information from Mrs. Ann Landers. I guess everyone wanted to know how to solve common problems by using common sense techniques.
Finally, I want to inform all of you that I am feeling much better now. I am very sorry for jumping from topic to topic just like my brother. I supposed that we do have a lot of things in common right now. I have siblings who have different interesting things. I am having a relationship with God and with other people. I know that I Love The Lord Jesus Christ and His Father God. I only wish that I could pay my Student loans off for good. I just want to have a normal life just like everyone else. I have to check and see if I have any money to spend on traveling to Toledo, Ohio and Cleveland, Ohio just to see my children and grandchildren if I have any. I owe William and Fudge Collection Agency a total of $16,000 dollars in student loan debt. I also owe Transworld Solutions Agency a total of $12,000 dollars in student loan debt. All together, my total debt including my medical bills and loans are $70,000 dollars in debt. This also include my taxes that I owe in another state.
In Conclusion, I am literally ready to pay off all my debts including Child Support if necessary. If I include the debt from Child Support, I would owe a total of almost a million dollars in debt. The only reason why I am mentioning this topic is because I might have children that really need my help. At least I am willing to make amends with everyone who I have hurt over the years. Lord Jesus I love you very much.
Understanding Online Scammers, Hackers, and the Criminal Element
This is a very serious problem in our society. The problem that I am talking about is computer hacking, scammers, and the criminal element. First, let’s start off by explaining the characteristics of a computer hacker. A computer hacker is a person who is a loner. This is a person who is excellent when it comes to working technology. A computer hacker is also a person who enjoys computers, women, and other things. A computer hacker is also highly intelligent, educated, and in some cases, also have a computer background. This is a person who possesses an above average IQ and he or she also usually is all by himself. This person is also a professional liar and he tends to demoralize an innocent person with words, symbols, or statements that does not make sense. This person uses a computer to cut and paste pictures of women and transfer them into his own personal database. This person also confuses everyone just like Satan with his statements, and to tell you the truth, his location is unknown to the public and not to God.
A scammer is a person who also takes advantage of other people by deceiving them with his or her words. They also make promises that they do not keep. A scammer is also a person who uses a computer at times to gain money from innocent people. A computer scammer and hacker are two different people. Scammers and Hackers are online using women’s profiles to lure men into starting a conversation with them. Most of them wait until each woman is completely logged off their computers or their smart phones. Scammers do not really need a computer to take advantage of another person. They can use their sense of charm, wit, and intelligence to gain anything from another person. What make it very dangerous is that most of the women who are victims are women. They have to prove in a court of law that they are not involved in any illegal activities. The scammers and hackers who are online right now are active 24 hours per day. Most of the activity occurs between the hours of Midnight to 6:00AM.
The criminal element that is associated with this operation consists of individuals that are in a hierarchy system. There is a system of people who are high and low ranking officials when it comes to the online scamming criminal element. This is extremely serious because an average hacker and scammers who are involved in this operation and crime usually earn an average of $100,000 per week. This money comes from online fraud victims who really do not know that they are being taken advantage of until the last minute. There is an average of 25,000 reports each year to law enforcement of wire fraud, and social security fraud. This is because the victims themselves are being used and their information online is being used by scammers and hackers. Their email accounts and homepages are also used by hackers as soon as they log off their personal computers or cell phones.
The equipment that computer hackers and scammers use is thermal scanners, printers, laptops, computers, cell phones, and printers. The crimes that are committed are identity theft and fraud. Also, another crime that is reported by victims is having their email accounts and homepages illegally used by these types of criminals. For instance, on Moco-Space, there is a hacker who is using women’s profiles to talk to men. This hacker is a man. This hacker also uses short words and statements to confuse innocent people. This hacker also tell lies whenever he/she states that; they have done something for the person they are talking to. Most of the accounts and information is illegally transferred to their accounts. There are also cloned accounts. There are accounts that do not exist and it is really up to the people who are in charge of the website to check this information out for authenticity.
It sounds a bit like throwing on an overcoat or shawl, the concept of “putting on the new self” that is emphasized repeatedly in Scripture. “Is it really that simple?” we might scoff, as if transformation happens as easily as changing our clothing.
But that is exactly what the apostle Paul advises Christian believers to do in Ephesians 4. As he wrote, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22-24).
What does it mean to “put on the new self” from Ephesians 4:22-24? It means exactly that — to exchange the old self for the new, the old ways and life of sin for the new creation we all are in our lord and savior, Christ Jesus.
Let’s take a look at the context, how we can put on a “new self,” and why it is so important that we do this.
What Does This Verse Mean?
When talking about the new self, Paul is referring to a renewed or regenerated person, one who has turned away from old ways to a new and improved state of being. This new self is a holy and pure self, striving to be like God and free from sin. It’s much like the “new humanity” Paul refers to in Ephesians 2:15, when he speaks of Jews and Gentiles coming together in the body of Christ – a beautiful, transformative version of what once was so imperfect and flawed.
We are to put off, or get rid of, the old version of ourselves — slaves to sin and walking in darkness, destined for death — and instead allow our minds and very souls to endeavor to be like God himself, righteous, true, perfect, and holy. This new self has Christ as our head (Colossians 1:18).
In the original Greek, “putting off” or “putting away” is translated from apotithēmi, which Mounce Concise Greek-English Dictionary of the New Testament says means “to lay off, lay down or aside, as garments.” The term “put on” comes from the Greek endyō, meaning to clothe oneself.
In essence, just as we take off an old, worn-out cloak and put on a fine, pristine new one, we are to do the same with the new, Godly self, the self that strives to be sin-free and in perfect alignment with the Lord.
For old and new self, the original Greek used is palaios anthrōpos and kainos anthrōpos. Anthrōpos refers to body, or human frame, specifically the “spiritual frame of the inner man,” according to Mounce’s dictionary. Palaios means “old” and kainos means “new,” or “recently made.” Kainos can also refer to new as in renovated, improved, made better or of higher excellence.
It is clear here that Paul is indeed saying that, like a tattered old coat, we should take off our old self and put on the new and far-improved one — our “Jesus cloak.” We do this by striving to be like Jesus, our God-given role model, God and man in one.
What Is the Context of Ephesians 4?
Paul is writing to the first-century church in Ephesus, largely comprising Gentile followers of Jesus. Much of the entire book of Ephesians is an instructional letter to the people urging them to embrace their identity in Christ.
Paul teaches here that salvation comes only by grace through faith, and he urges the people to do what they can to embrace this new identity so they can join other members of the body of Christ and bring about God’s eternal plan on earth.
Once, these Ephesian believers had been squabbling, ununified fools who worshipped idols and engaged in immoral behavior. But now they had a fundamentally, drastically new character.
Be that new person, Paul is urging his audience. Turn from the old and embrace the new.
As part of this, Paul also in Ephesians 4 encourages the people to draw together in unity and try hard to be mature and responsible, not immature, fickle infants. Indeed, he doesn’t want them to be “Gentiles” or “Jews” at all but God’s own children, precious and good. Don’t do wrong things, like lie or steal. Don’t “give the devil a foothold,” he says in Ephesians 4:27. Encourage each other and focus on kindness and righteousness.
Why Do We Need to Put Off the Old Self?
The old self is like the pile of weeds Jesus himself said was destined for the fire. But the new self, as it is part of the body of Christ, has a higher purpose and is part of God’s plan.
John 1:4-5 says, “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
That light came into the world, but we didn’t recognize him. Yet, John wrote, “To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God — children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God” (John 1:12-13).
Mental illness alone is very challenging for more than 40 million people living in the United States. People who struggle with the diagnosis of a mental illness find themselves struggling to make it. Frankly, there are people, who turn to their faith in God just to make it. Personally, I suffer from schizoid affective disorder. I have been suffering from a mental illness for 28 years now. Why having a serious mental illness would is so difficult?
For me, I hear voices that are not the Holy Spirit. In my report, I have found that spirituality is an often-overlooked resource in mental illness recovery. My assessment of religious or spiritual beliefs are under researched, and in most cases, it is laughed at by the Mental Health Community. Honestly, most psychiatrist refuse to actually listen to their patients. Many psychiatrist and therapist that I have consulted with during the past 28 years, feel that my spirituality is pointless.
I will admit that I have benefitted from pastoral counseling more than consulting with a psychiatrist and therapist. There are three main reasons how people with a mental illness cope with their problem. First, through spirituality, as well as relying on a power that is greater than the person themselves. As for me, I attend Fort McKinley United Methodist Church. The address to the church is 3721 West Siebenthaler Avenue Dayton, Ohio 45406. I have attended Fort McKinley Church for 10 years now.
It helps me to cope much better with a mental illness by attending church as well as Bible study during the week. I feel a whole lot better when I am at church. Second, there are over 50 million people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness and a substance abuse problem. This statistic comes from the National Institute of Mental Health. People who suffer from a mental illness, at least some of them drink alcohol or self-medicate themselves just to cope with their problem. Third, another coping mechanism that some people have used is suicide. I remember on February 13, 2010; I tried to kill myself because I was responding to internal stimuli.
The voices that I was hearing told me to kill myself. Smolak, Gearing, Alonzo, Baldwin, Harmon, and McHugh (2013) reflected and reviewed 43 original research studies over the past 30 years. These people have discovered that patterns that were related or pertaining to religious beliefs and a patient’s recovery from a serious mental illness such as schizophrenia.
This observation found that religion and spirituality have a mostly positive association with mental illness recovery. However, the intensive observation indicated that spiritual perceptions of family, caregivers, the community at large, and professionals affiliated to the mental illness saw tremendous progress.
The results pointed out that religious themes were often evident in the perception of disease etiology, that family members and caregivers used religion as well as religious based professionals over mental health professionals. I would admit that working with a Pastor each week is much more feasible than dealing with a psychiatrist on a monthly basis. However, this report has better reflections of the patient.
It also has a better understanding of a patient’s spiritual and religious beliefs as it assists in improving coping with a mental illness better than relying on medication. Religion and spirituality in conjunction with mental illness recovery remained historically under emphasized and minimized by mental health professionals. This means that spirituality will have to be emphasized by the patient themselves as a means to better cope with their mental illness.
The report finished with the idea of how enhancing the treatment provider’s awareness of a patient’s religious and spiritual interaction may improve treatment outcomes. I would like to say that religion and spirituality is not emphasized during an average consultation or therapy session. The majority of professionals prefer the use of medication to eradicate mental illness. Corrigan, McCorkle, Schell, and Kidder (2003) studied a total of 1,824 patients living with serious mental illness, who also had significant functional disability, but did not engage in substance abuse.
The information pointed out that the self-reporting of spirituality and religion as well as measured outcomes in psychological well-being, psychiatric symptoms, and life goal achievement such as employment and housing. This study determined whether religion and spirituality yielded similar benefits in the lives of people challenged and suffering from a serious mental illness, but also determined if those same people benefitted differently from religion. The patient’s themselves participated in community activities and common ways of worshipping versus spirituality defined as thinking about one’s self as part of a larger spiritual force. (P. 488). This study found that patients who self-identified as religious or spiritual has a much greater sense of well-being, better coping skills, and diminished psychiatric symptoms. There was also no difference in quality of life as far as employment and/or housing.
People who suffer from a serious mental illness usually advocate and assert that religion and spirituality serve essential recovery roles in that they may provide useful coping skills to help with stressors. Also, as previously noted, mental health professionals tend not to be very religious; therefore, the differences between professionals and patients may lead to a gap in treatment as professionals fail to ask about beliefs.
This could lead to a failure to explore religion or spirituality as a means towards a therapeutic end. There are conclusions from this study. The raw facts suggest there may be a need for faith-based programs to be integrated into recovery programs for people with serious mental illness. In the future, more research is needed to determine the role of faith-based programs and to more thoroughly examine the causes and effects of spirituality in the lives of people who suffer from mental illness.
In all cases, this study and examination serves to remind mental health professionals of the central role religion or spirituality often play in the lives of patients and to the fact that sensitivity to the patient’s needs in this area lead professionals to helping the patient find appropriate services and resources.
Women and minorities struggle with mental illness are much more intense than other races. These patients were more likely to be religious and more likely to turn to their faith as a means of coping, getting better, and staying healthy. These patient’s length of stay in a psychiatric ward was significantly shorter for patients who attend worship services or used religious thoughts and activities as one of the most important strategies to deal with their mental illness.
An initial spiritual assessment should focus on determining how patient’s spiritual beliefs and practices influences their functioning and recovery. By doing so, mental health professionals will likely uncover strengths and resources that can be utilized to foster recovery. Mental Health Professionals can also help patients focus on their capabilities and resilience as well as accessing and using other positive recovery-oriented narratives drawn from the patient’s spiritual worldview in order to address their problems more efficiently.
Spiritual Assessment within the mental health area is under researched and given that spirituality and/or religion is identifiably a magnificent and positive part of serious mental illness recovery. This needs to be a more widely researched and utilized avenues of social science. In a society where, mental illness can be isolating and stigmatizing label; spirituality can be a core identity to which almost everyone can find a community or ways to help make life with serious mental illness worth living.

This is an essay that will ask a very important question. What does it mean to examine our ways and heart? This is a plan for repentance and renewal. Turn Back!! Repentance in the Old Testament prophets is often expressed by the verb To Turn!! Lift our hearts and hands: Lifting hands was a common posture in prayer.
According to Lamentations 5:21: The one-word turn can summarize God’s message to His rebellious people. In one of Jeremiah’s earlier messages, he had exhorted the people to turn to God no less than seven times. Return means to “Return” to God in faith.
When it comes to repentance, I have to completely stop what I had done wrong, and give it to the Lord God. The definition of the word repent means to turn back. As it pertains to the topic of discussion, this gives us an opportunity to examine carefully who we are in the eyes of God. It also enables us to write down on paper all of our positive and negative things about ourselves.
We have to speak with the Lord privately first and foremost. Before we seek wise counsel with others, we first must confess our sins to the Lord.
Next, in this case, this means that everything that we did wrong in our personal life, we ask God to forgive us. As far as our ways and heart is concerned, we must take a real long look at ourselves. Do you really like what you see? This is a question that we really need to ask ourselves right now. For instance, in my case, I tend to ask myself this same question every single day. I have a lot of health issues right now. I am taking 34 prescription medications that I am currently taking is Invega, Prozac, Vistaril, Gabapentin, -and Phenobarbital. I have been taking these medications for over 20 years now. These are some examples of medications that I am currently taking right now. I am also taking Aptiom as well which is Tegretol.
Further, I currently take these medications for seizures and depression. How do you feel about yourself right now? I feel pretty good about my outlook on life, and my overall behavior as completely changed since taking the medications.
In Step 10 in Alcoholics Anonymous states that we continue to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. A) We review our day at its entirety. Do we have to make amends with anyone else or God? Sometimes the answer to this question is yes. For me personally, I have to examine all of my character defects and disclose them with God or with my A.A. Sponsor. Right now, I have to write an essay each day of the week just to cope with a mental illness. I have to pray and read the Bible each day of the week.
B) When we examine our ways, we look at every little thing that makes us tick. For Example, we focus on having an intimate relationship with God. Are you ready to have an intimate relationship with God? C) The definition of the word examine means to look at carefully. I am the type of person who is very intelligent, nice, kind, polite, patient, considerate, warm, brave, clean, and meticulous.
Finally, we are ready to have an intimate relationship with God by confessing our sins to Him! As soon as I say that I am ready to do your will Lord. First, I must confess all of my sins to the Lord God.
I might even write them down on a piece of paper and tell God exactly what is burdening me. Also, one thing that I can say is that I feel much better when it comes to releasing all of my negative energy to Him. I also ask Him what he wants me to do right now and in the future. I ask the Lord to please let me hear His voice. God already know the things that you need long before you ask Him.
He will supply all of your needs. Are you glad that we serve an understanding God? I am glad that I serve Him for myself. Please continue to pray for me each day because I suffer from glaucoma and cataracts as well.
