The Great Miami River

The Great Miami River is a river that runs from Dayton, Ohio to Cincinnati, Ohio. The reason why this blog has been written is simply because there were three men swimming inside of the river at 5:00pm.  The three men who I saw inside of the river were fighting against the currents right near the Monument Street Bridge in Dayton, Ohio.

This area right near the bridge is very dangerous.  The men themselves were also using a surfboard to glide right along the river’s currents.  I am very concerned for the safety of all people.  I was on the number #8 Bus riding along Riverview Avenue when I discovered the three men inside of the river.

The water is very murky looking.   The river is 27 to 30 feet deep, according to News Center 7 in Dayton, Ohio.  I do not understand why people would canoe inside of the river, nor attempt to swim inside of it.  The three men were probably intoxicated when they tried to surf and swim inside of the river.  I would recommend that the Dayton, Ohio Fire Department should monitor all activities inside of the river.
