– Share Lyme disease is caused by Borrelia burgdorferi, a bacterium that’s transmitted to humans when they are bitten by an infected black-legged or deer tick. Once infected, symptoms can occur anywhere from 3-30 days after the bite, and they can be wide-ranging, depending on the stage of infection. The chances of contracting Lyme disease from a tick bite depends on the kind of tick, where you were bitten, when the bite occurred, and how long the tick was attached to you. According to the CDC, black-legged ticks must be attached for at least 24 hours to transmit Lyme disease. What Are the Symptoms of Lyme Disease? Early signs and symptoms of this disease include chills, fever, fatigue, headaches, muscle and joint pain, and swollen lymph nodes. In about 70-80% of infections a rash is seen. This rash will gradually expand over a period of days and can grow to around 12 inches wide. It may feel warm to the touch, but it shouldn’t be itchy or painful, and it can appear anywhere on the body. As the infection progresses, symptoms can include: • Severe headaches or neck stiffness • Heart palpitation or an irregular heartbeat • Inflammation of the spinal cord and brain • Loss of muscle tone or drooping on one or both sides of the face • Additional rashes on other parts of the body • Arthritis with severe joint pain and swelling, particularly in the knees • Shooting pains, numbness, and tingling in the hands or feet How is Lyme Disease Diagnosed? Lyme disease is diagnosed based on symptoms and history of tick exposure. A two-step blood test may also be taken, but the accuracy of this test depends on the stage the disease is in. For example, in the first few weeks of infection, the test may be negative, as antibodies take a few weeks to develop. These tests aren’t recommended for patients who don’t have any of the common symptoms of Lyme disease. How is Lyme Disease Treated? The antibiotics amoxicillin and tetra cycline are used, usually for 10-21 days. Other antibiotics that might be used are cefuroxime and doxycycline. If you get treatment for Lyme disease when the infection is at an early stage, it is likely that you will make a full recovery. How Prevalent is Lyme Disease? About 30,00 cases are reported each year, but the CDC estimates that you can add another 300,000 infections to this figure. Infection is more common in males up to age 15 and between the ages of 40 and 60. The reason for this is these are people who are more likely to play outside, and go hiking, camping, and hunting. How to avoid ticks completely and prevent catching Lyme disease What Areas Are More Likely to Have Lyme Disease? Mainly the Mid-Atlantic states, New England, and parts of the upper Midwest. According to the CDC, 95% of confirmed cases in 2015 were in the following 14 states: Delaware, Maine, Connecticut, Minnesota, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Virginia. It can also be found in California, where it is carried by deer. Black-legged ticks can be found in 43 states, but they behave differently according to the climate. For example, in the South, which is more prone to hot weather, ticks tend to stay under leaf litter and don’t come out to feed as they’ll dry out. This means that Southern ticks don’t transmit Lyme disease frequently as they don’t tend to feed on humans. What’s Driving up Lyme Disease Numbers? While increasing temperatures worldwide has made more Northern areas such as Maine, Canada, and Minnesota hospitable to ticks, the population of deer carrying the ticks probably plays a much bigger role. Development led to record low numbers of deer early in the last century, but the deer population has increased as a result of reforestation over the past several decades, meaning the tick population has increased as well. Furthermore, white-footed mice, which also transmit Lyme disease to ticks that bite them, are moving closer to humans as their habitat disappears. Another reason is that warm weather and mild winters may bring more people outside, increasing their chances of being bitten, especially in Lyme-prone areas. How Do You Know If You’ve Been Bitten? Since ticks are the size of a poppy seed, you’ve got to have pretty good eyesight to spot them. The CDC recommends that if you’ve been walking in the woods, tall grass, or working in your garden, that you check your skin afterwards, ideally in the bath or shower. What Do You Do If There’s a Tick Under Your Skin Remove it with a pair of tweezers as soon as possible, pulling upward with steady pressure. If parts of the tick remain in your skin, try to remove them with the tweezers. After everything is out, clean the area with rubbing alcohol or soap and water. Put the tick in a piece of tissue, and close it in a zip bag. When should You See Your Doctor? A rash is a pretty good indication that you might have Lyme disease. Therefore, if a rash starts to develop in the area you were bitten, you should visit your doctor immediately. At this stage of the illness, treatment with some antibiotics will likely see you make a full recovery. What’s the Best Way to Prevent a Tick Bite? Ticks cannot fly or jump, but instead live in shrubs and bushes, and grab onto someone when they walk by. To avoid getting bitten, wear pants and socks in woods, areas with a lot of trees, and while handling fallen leaves. Wear some tick repellents and clothing that has DEET, lemon oil, or eucalyptus. Shower as soon as you get home. This lets you look at your skin and wash any ticks out of your hair. Furthermore, put the clothes you were wearing into a hot wash to kill whatever ticks might remain. Ticks are small, insect-like creatures that live in grassy, brushy, or wooded areas and can attach to humans, feeding on their blood. They are typically not painful and may not be immediately noticed. While most ticks are harmless, some can transmit bacteria that cause diseases like Lyme disease and others.
How Ticks Attach:
- Ticks are attracted to warm, moist areas of the body, such as the armpits, groin, and hair.
- They attach firmly to the skin and begin to feed on blood.
- The size of the tick may increase (engorgement) as it feeds.
What to Do After a Tick Bite:
- 1. Remove the tick:Use tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible and pull it out in a steady, upward motion.
- 2. Clean the bite area:Wash the area with soap and water and apply an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, or iodine.
- 3. Monitor for symptoms:Watch for a rash, fever, extreme tiredness, or joint swelling and pain within 30 days of the bite.
Important Considerations:
- Avoid squeezing the tick: This can increase the risk of infection.
- Do not use alcohol, nail polish remover, or Vaseline on the tick: These methods can make it difficult to remove and potentially increase the risk of infection.
- Consult a healthcare professional: If you develop a rash or fever, or if you have any concerns about a tick bite, seek medical advice.
Preventing Tick Bites:
- Avoid tick habitats: Stay away from grassy, brushy, or wooded areas when possible.
- Wear protective clothing: Wear long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes when in tick-prone areas.
- Use insect repellent: Apply insect repellent containing DEET or picaridin to exposed skin.
- Check for ticks: After spending time outdoors, check your body for ticks, paying close attention to warm, moist areas.

James 1:19 Bible Verse
James 1:19 And What It Means to All People.
James 1:19 says: My Dear beloved brethren, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. To me personally it means that we must watch what we are doing at all times.
Next, I want to inform all of you that something like this takes a lot of practice. This is a skill that someone does not learn overnight. It takes years of practice. I really think that something like this should be utilized.
Moreover, I want to inform all of you that I have to learn this new skill because I have been very angry all of the time. I know that I tend to struggle with listening to people.
Also, I want to say that it takes a lot of practice to learn all three things. First, listening. Listening is a process of learning how to understand the spoken word. I want to inform all of you that if someone tells you something, you should be able to repeat it right back to them. I know for me; I have to learn how to accept what it is being said out of the person’s mouth.
Another problem that I have is that I do not believe everything that people tell me. This is true because people will tell a lie in your face. They even want you to accept it.
Then, if you do not fully accept what they are saying: There is a major problem. I want to say that certain people especially if they are from a different culture; can say something to you that you do not agree with. I know that I have been living inside of an environment that consists of people who comes from different countries. A person from another country can say something to you, it would offend you.
In Addition, I want to inform all of you that people can cuss you out and get away with it. This is the reason why you have to pay attention to another person’s non-verbal communication. I want to inform you that everyone has to pay attention to a person’s movements of their arms and legs as well as fingers.
I also have to pay attention to their verbal communication as well. If it is in a language that you do not understand, then you have to ask them what they are saying.
If they are offended with you after you asked them a question, then there is another problem. Quick to listen is another way of paying close attention to what is being said out of a person’s mouth as well as movements called gestures. I know that in my neighborhood, it is integrated. I know that there are people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Quick to Listen is just paying attention to what is being said as a person’s language.
Slow to Speak is a way of interpretation. It is a way of understanding what someone else is saying. I know for me, I have to learn how to fully understand another person’s speech. If it is different from what I am used to, then I must take a stand. I want to inform you that I have learned how to take a non-violent approach when it comes to dealing with other people.
Slow to Speak means that we have to ingest what another person is saying. To fully understand what they are saying out of their mouth. Sometimes people who are younger tend to act impulsive. They also use language that only millennials are able to understand even if it is a threat. Sometimes a person can say things just to provoke you in some kind of way.
Slow to Speak means that if the communication is different, then you have to defend yourself. With me personally, I have to fully explain what I actually think they said as long as it is not a form of vulgarity.
You see, I am a 58-year-old man who fully understand vulgarity in many different cultures. I even know if it is street slang or gang language. I understand young people because I have nieces and nephews who are much younger than me. Therefore, I understand street slang that comes from different regions of the United States. This is because I used to live in the Midwest and the Southeast USA.
I am more of the proper type, and highly educated. Just because someone is acting the fool does not mean that I have to act like them.
You see, I was told by my AA Sponsors to always take a long walk and calm down. Some young people do not respect older people. This means that they think that everyone think that you have to yield to them. I will not yield to anyone but God and Jesus Christ. I know that inside of a changing culture, there are people who have personalities that are different than yours. This is the reason why I listen with the intent of exchanging whatever a person is feeling at a particular time.
Slow to Get Angry Means: to learn how to never allow anyone else push your buttons. Anger is a universal emotion. I know that a people today are pugnacious. I understand that my primary intention is to understand your point of view. It is best for a mature person to walk away from a cowardice fight. This means that people who are younger than you will try to kill you over nonsense.
Another intention that I have is to respect you in the long run. I want to inform you that I am trying to prevent myself from fighting in the first place.
Slow to Get Angry Means: to think about your consequences in advance. I know that my objective is to not fight anyone even though they are much angrier than me. I am trying to stay out of trouble in the first place. I am trying to diffuse any situation before it gets worse. I am trying to learn how to forgive everyone 490 times in life. This means that I have to forgive each person a total of 490 times. This is the reason why I have to avoid you, if we cannot make peace.
Slow to Get Angry Means: that you do not have to always act like the next person all of the time. I am still learning how to act like a mature adult. I really do not like fighting verbally or physically. Therefore, I will not kiss anyone’s Gluteus Maximus in any way. I cannot complete that task on myself. Respect me and I will respect you. This is my interpretation of James 1:19 inside of the Bible.

Our Willingness Makes a Difference
Page 123
“When we show up with an open mind and a willingness to be of service, the rewards can be far greater than our efforts.”
Living Clean, Chapter 5, “Family”
A nudge from a sponsor, a longing to be a part of NA, a hunger for validation–any of these might be our initial inspiration to serve. Regardless of what motivates us, the rewards of service quickly become apparent. It feels good to be part of the beehive of activity that goes into keeping the doors open and meetings running smoothly. We feel a sense of belonging as home-group members greet us by name and invite us to check out other meetings. We welcome new members and introduce them to others who have their best interest at heart. Realizing that we fit that description, too, we offer our phone number and some advice: “If you don’t pick up, you can’t get high. Call one of us if the disease starts talking to you.” We’re humbled to think that our willingness to be of service might make a difference for a potential new member. Viewed with an open mind, we realize that it’s already made a difference for us.
While groups remain the most powerful vehicle for carrying the message, the NA service infrastructure exists to amplify our ability to fulfill this primary purpose. Members contribute to the good and necessary work organized by service bodies large and small. All of these efforts are geared to helping more addicts find their way to the rooms. We offer our time and effort and find ourselves becoming more invested, more connected, and more alive. Our willingness to show up and pitch in means that our groups have current meeting directories, that cops and doctors send addicts our way, that websites provide the latest information, and that incarcerated members get sponsors and NA literature.
Our primary purpose inspires all of these service efforts and more. We show up with the still-suffering addict in mind and find that our burdens are lessened by our generosity. Our service to NA affects who we are and how we interact with the world. Within NA and beyond, we do loving things for our families and communities and experience love in return. Our insights compel us to keep showing up and giving back and enjoying the rewards.
I am willing to show up and give of myself today. It will keep me clean and remind me of the abundance I enjoy as a result of the life I found in Narcotics Anonymous. All NAWS subscriptions are free. We are able to provide this service due, in part, to the generous contributions of our members. If you are a member, you can make a contribution here: www.na.org/contribute

Matthew 12:36‐37
What Does Matthew 12:36-37 Really Meant in Real Life at This Present Time? By Anthony Joseph Hopkins August 27, 2022

Matthew 12:36-37 says: But I say to you that for every idle word man may speak, they will give account on it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. Let’s examine this for a moment or two, I did not know that God is recording our steps as well as our actions.
For Instance, the way we speak to each other on a daily basis is being recorded. It goes inside of our Book of Life. The Book of Life is our history from birth to death. It is a collection of behaviors, actions, reactions, and our tears will be collected to form the Book of Life.

Next, I want to inform all of you that everything that we do in our lives is being written down and recorded. I did not know until I started reading the Holy Bible that God is going to judge us according what we have done for Him. Our deeds and personal works are going to be judged. God wants all of us to help each other.
Further, I want to inform all of you that things are going to change very quickly. This is the reason why everyone is saying stay awake!! If you are caught sleeping at a very dangerous time as this, you have to stay sober, vigilant, observant, curious, and understand your own environment. According to Matthew 12:36-37, it is saying that the spoken word is going to be questioned. This means that what we are saying out of our mouth is going to either justify or condemn a person.
Moreover, everything is changing very fast. I have noticed that each year since the millennium year 2000. Each year is traveling very fast. This is because God is going to return for His People!! The things that we eat every single day is being written down by God.

God would like to know whether or not we are healthy to serve inside of His Kingdom. Do you know that the music that we listen to is being recorded by God? He wants to know whether or not we are double minded. God wants to know and understand us because He is determining whether we are of the world, or we are serving Him. God will even test our works to see if it will survive.
Finally, I want to inform all of you that we all have to get prepared to meet God. At least for me, I would like to get myself in shape to meet him. To be honest, God sees right through people. I would like to help other people to get themselves together just to meet God. I will admit that I need to get prepared mentally, physically, emotionally, and intellectually prepared to meet God.
I also have to spiritually prepared as well. I really have to pray every single day of the week. I have to pray frequently and without being afraid. Praying and reading the Bible are two ways that God can listen to me. I know that I have been having a lot of ups and downs when it comes to my behavior. I have been listening to auditory hallucinations and female voices from the women who scammed me out of money.
In Conclusion, I am doing my very best to change my behavior. I have even changed the music that I listen to.
